How Custom Hardware Is Made: From Drawing to Mass Production

A step-by-step look at how a custom buckle, hook or logo plate goes from idea to finished part.

Many brands want hardware that is unique to them, but are unsure what the development process involves. Here is how a custom part is made at a full-process factory like ours.

1. Brief and feasibility

It starts with a drawing, a sketch or even a photo of a reference part, plus the target size, material, finish and quantity. Engineers check whether the design can be produced reliably and suggest improvements.

2. Design and drawings

The concept is turned into 2D / 3D production drawings. This is where wall thickness, strength and how the part works with your webbing or tape are fixed.

3. Mould making

For zinc alloy parts a die-casting mould is made; for flat parts a stamping die; for plastic an injection mould. The mould is drilled and polished – mould quality directly decides how sharp and clean the final part looks.

4. Production of semi-finished parts

Raw parts are cast, stamped or moulded, then sorted, deburred and polished to remove flash and prepare the surface.

5. Surface treatment and colouring

Parts are plated, coated, painted or enamel-filled to the approved colour, then assembled if they have multiple components (for example a snap hook with spring gate).

6. Inspection and packing

Finished parts are inspected for appearance, dimensions and function, then packed to your requirements and shipped.
